Unplugged and Empowered: My Journey through a Socmed Detox

An Open Letter to Myself

Dear Jonas,

I hope this letter finds you well, as it comes from a place of understanding and encouragement. I know that the prospect of a social media detox can be daunting, but I believe in your strength and determination to conquer this challenge and emerge stronger on the other side.

During this time, it's essential to remind yourself why you've chosen to take this step. Remember that a Socmed detox is not a punishment, but an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and increased mental clarity. Embrace the journey with an open mind and heart, knowing that it will lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life.

As you embark on this detox, be patient with yourself. Breaking habits can be difficult, and it's okay to stumble along the way. If you find yourself tempted to log back in, take a moment to pause and reflect on the reasons behind your decision. Focus on the present and the positive impact this detox will have on your well-being.

Fill the void left by social media with meaningful activities that nourish your soul. Reconnect with hobbies, spend quality time with loved ones, read books that inspire you, or explore new passions. Use this time to rediscover the joy of being present in the real world and to cultivate deeper connections with those around you.

It's natural to experience moments of doubt or FOMO (fear of missing out), but remember that social media is just a small part of life. The moments you cherish most are the ones you experience fully and in person. Embrace this detox as an opportunity to find true connection and happiness beyond the virtual realm.

Celebrate each small victory along the way. Acknowledge the progress you make, no matter how small it may seem. Each step counts towards reclaiming your time, focus, and mental well-being.

Above all, be kind to yourself throughout this process. This journey is about self-care, not self-judgment. You are strong, capable, and worthy of a life filled with genuine connections and personal growth.

I believe in you, and I know that you have the power to conquer and survive this challenge. Embrace this opportunity for positive change, and remember that you are never alone on this path.

With love and unwavering support,

Uncertain

Blog #5

Uncertain
'Di man daay lalim', a Cebuano line, means it's not that easy.
I wasn't expecting this kind of feeling. It is really hard, I tell you. Before, during my application for the graduation process, I was really eager to finish everything just to comply with all the requirements and prepare myself for the graduation ceremony, just like every graduating student wanted to do. We were all excited to finish our degree. But now, reality has slapped my face.
As I end this month of July with fear and anxiety, I want to go back to the time when I was rushing things that supposedly weren't. I regret the things I did when I was focusing on finishing everything rather than cherishing every situation because the real battle awaits me outside the school.
It really feels bad to not be someone you expect someone to be. It annoys me. It gives me a feeling of discouragement. This wasn't supposed to be. But it is happening. I feel so useless. I feel so small. I feel so less privileged. It gives me a bundle of pressure as the days pass by. I feel pity for myself. There are a number of days to go before my two months of being jobless and still thinking about what I really want and need to do. Everything seems so scrambled. My mind has so many distractions. My parents are waiting for some good news about my life status, but they don't know how exactly I feel right now.
I know it's too early to say that I am a failure. But please, someone, or even anyone out there? Send someone to give me a tight hug and whisper to me that I am really not a failure. Please, I need someone.

Reminiscing the Joyful Past- A Nostalgic Journey to 2019

Reminiscing the Joyful Past- A Nostalgic Journey to 2019

Oh, how I miss those old days! Back in 2019, I was just like the people I see now at the Interschool Summer Fest. We had so much fun engaging with different kinds of people and taking part in games alongside other working students. As I watch them savour the moments, a wave of happiness and pride washes over me because I remember how much I accomplished during that time. Despite my struggles, I pushed through and did enough to be proud of.

Joining this event today, not as a USAC member anymore nor as a participant, but as an officer who just graduated in June 2023, brings back vivid memories of everything I experienced in 2019. It's like I'm reliving those cherished moments, feeling the same excitement and nostalgia all over again. Those memories serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience I had during that period, and they inspire me to create beautiful memories and be more resilient in the pursuit of my success in the present and the future.

Virtual Bliss: Longing for Your Presence

Virtual Bliss: Longing for Your Presence

Dear Incognito,

Every day that passed without seeing you felt like an eternity, but now my heart is overflowing with joy. Your pictures brought back so many wonderful memories, and it felt like you were right here with me, even if it was just through a screen. It's incredible how technology can bridge the distance between us, but it also reminds me of how much I cherish our physical moments together.

I can't help but smile every time I look at those photos. Your presence, even in pictures, brings so much happiness and warmth into my life. I wish I could reach out and touch your face, hold your hand, and hear your laughter in person.

The anticipation of seeing you again in the flesh is almost too much to bear, but it also fills me with excitement and butterflies in my stomach. I'm already planning all the things we can do and the places we can explore together when we reunite.

Until then, I promise to keep in touch, sharing every little moment and thought with you. And who knows, maybe we can set up a video call soon, just to make the wait a little easier. But be assured, nothing can replace the genuine joy of being physically close to you.

You mean the world to me, and I can't wait for the day we're finally back together again. Until that moment arrives, I'll keep you in my heart and thoughts every step of the way. Sending all my love your way, and looking forward to making more beautiful memories together soon!

Yours truly,

Day 12 of 45

Day 12 of 45
My heart hurts with a longing that appears to have no end in the peaceful hours of the day. I'm awash in feelings, your memories flooding my thoughts like a bittersweet symphony. Each passing day feels like an eternity as I go about my daily routine, yet you are still missing, a hole that cannot be filled. I miss your laughter, your voice vibrating in my soul like a familiar symphony. The warmth of your touch, the way you held my hand, stays in my fingertips as a gentle echo. My days have become a weaving of bittersweet feelings of longing, and while I know we'll see one other again, the distance is excruciating. Time seems to slow, and all I can do is wait, counting the days until we're together again, for on that day, the world will be whole once more.
